egg
An amniotic egg is an egg from which mammals gave birth to. It contains a yolk to nourish the developing organism. It also protects the developing organism, as well as aids it in gas and energy exchange. A prime example of amniotic eggs are chicken eggs and their baby chicks.

grapes
Grapes are examples of c3 plants. A c3 plant involves direct carbon fixation of CO2. It is a plant in which the CO2 is first fixed into a compound before entering the Calvin Cycle. An interesting fact about c3 plants is that they must grow in areas where CO2 concentration is high, temperature is moderate, and ground water is abundant. This is because in hot areas, stomata are closed to prevent water loss. But, it results in the oxygen level rise.

The calvin cycle takes place in the stroma of a leaf. Due to the need for ATP and NADPH, the Calvin Cycle would be placed on the stroma side of the thylakoid membrane where the high-energy molecules are produced by the light reactions. Carbon enters in the form of CO2 and leaves in the form of glucose.

pollinator
In a myriad of flowers in my backyard, I found one with a bee nestling inside of it. The bee inside the flower can be referred to as the pollinator. A pollinator moves pollen from the anther of a flower to the stigma of a flower for fertilization. The anther is male and the stigma is female.

cuticle
The cuticle is the outer lay of the leaf. It is a water-impervious protective layer that covers cells, for example the epidermal cells of leaves. It consists of waxy substances like cutin. It protects the elaf against water loss, water game, and other damage.

population
The grass in my backyard is a part of a population. A population refers to a group of organisms of one species living in a certain area. However, a population can also be a type of plant or flower. A very common type of population is grass.

sand dune
Sand dunes are present in desert biomes. Sand dunes are an abundance of sand formed to create huge hill like forms. They are usually found in inland deserts. A sand dune can be as small as an anthill or as tall as a skyscraper. All sand dunes are formed the same way, every single one is a pile of sand built up by the wind. Once the sand has been picked up by the wind, it will go wherever the wind carries it.

desert biome
This is an example of a desert biome in New Mexico. In deserts, rainfall is less than 50 cm per year. Most deserts have a considerable amount of specialized vegetation. Also, soils in deserts have abundant nutrients because they need only water to become very productive and have little to no organic matter. Mammals are not prevalent because of the heat and lack of water.

Phototropism is directly related with sunflowers. I took this picture while I was in New Mexico earlier this summer. In phototropism, the growth of a plant is determined by the direction of the light source. In other words, it is the growth and response to light stimulus. It is most commonly observed in plants.
