Washington Seminar is a five-day, four night trip to America's capital that is open to all students in the junior class at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North. This program, a long-standing district tradition, provides young adults with the opportunity to experience the workings of our government at a more focused level. Students will see how our congress debates bills, have the opportunity to sit in committee meetings and even view the floor of the house and senate from the galleries in the Capitol building. Over the course of the trip there will be chances to interact with people from different nations and cultures. Students will experience hearing from Bonnie Watson Coleman, our NJ District representative in the same room that many influential speeches were delivered by presidents to congress.

What trip to Washington, D. C. would be complete without the experience of visiting the Smithsonian Museums and paying our respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice at Arlington National Cemetery? Other highlights include lunch followed by a discussion with noted journalists, a Wounded Warrior Project speaker and secret service personnel as well as night walking tours of national monuments. We also are planning to make stops at the DEA, ATF, Pentagon, USIP, Department of Homeland Security and the Naval Academy for tours and speaking engagements . Attendees return home with an enlightened opinion of how our country conducts its affairs, a deep understanding of the importance of service as well as the operation of our government.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact either of the Washington Seminar Coordinators: Mr. Albert Paulsson, Teacher of Social Studies at - [email protected] or Mr. Joseph Bossio, Teacher of Social Studies at - [email protected]
